The book by Barbara Want from which the quotation in the Exploring section of this session is taken came out in the spring of 2010, 3 ½ years after the death of her husband, Nick Clarke, the broadcaster. A number of reviews and articles about it were published at the time. But, apart from buying the book, perhaps the best way to capture the rawness and power of the feelings the experience provoked in her is to listen to her being interviewed on the BBC World Service in July 2010.
Alongside continuing to care for her twins, Barbara Want works with Cruse Bereavement Care by talking to junior school teachers about dealing with bereaved children. Formerly a producer on Panorama, she has a media training company and is the agony aunt on BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine show.
